Queanbeyan Railway Station
Station history
![]()
Queanbeyan Railway Station buildings are typical of medium-sized country stations built by the railways in New South Wales in the 1880s.
The station exterior has been restored by the State Rail Authority of New South Wales and the station is now listed on the Register of the National Estate.
It still boasts a working 18.3 metre (60 foot) turntable, and a large cast iron water column at the Sydney end of the platform.
The ARHS (ACT) has leased the station buildings from the State Rail Authority since 1994 but the station is still in daily use by the railways. It is an important stop for the Sydney/Canberra Xplorer service, which operates three times in both directions on most days.
The station is also served by all Michelago Tourist Railway trains running between Canberra and Royalla and ARHS trains operating north toward Goulburn.CountryLink Ticketing Agency
The ARHS (ACT) has also been operating the Queanbeyan CountryLink Ticketing Agency out of the former station master's office since February 1994.
Bookings for CountryLink services can be made in person, by phone or fax. For details, see:ARHS train services
