Paint that Tram

By Max Fish

Actually it's not a tram, its 4807. Last weekend saw the loco hauling our Riverina tour train.

You would have seen the gleaming paint job. As befitting a loco retained by the SRA on its heritage roster, the only suitable paint scheme could be "as originally issued to traffic".

This is what we have done. Only a few of us saw who did the hard graft on all that rust and aged Freightcorp blue.

Peter Semczuk had the help of five who are usually seen in Hospitality Crew roles: his sons Chris and David plus Lowie Ormay, Danny Ormay and Andrew Garland. This is a teenaged guys and gal team.

The professional finish to the loco says it all for their hard yakka and competence.

Now - the Trams

Floriade visitors can get up close and personal to two trams in Canberra. Rumour has it that the Centennial Tram Project may get the go-ahead.

One is stationary outside the Museum of Australia while the other is offering rides alongside Parkes Way, conveniently close to the big flower power itself.

Our contribution has been to produce the track panels needed for both trams. Just a few pictures of the wooden-sleepered panels for the museum tram. The operational tram is on some of our remaining steel sleepers.

Don't worry, we get everything back for use on railway tracks!
