Freight Van ABV 13856

Built in 1908 and originally coded CV for "covered van", these 4-wheel vans were used for general freight carriage around NSW.

A number of these vehicles were internally lined in 1963 to improve their insulation and were re-coded ABV.

They became known as Arnott's Biscuit Van (ABV), as this fleet of vehicles was used to deliver Arnott's biscuits around NSW before the development of wholesale grocers.

ABV 13856 was in service until 1984 when it was bought by the Society.

After a period as a storage vehicle at Canberra Railway Museum, it was moved to Yass Railway Museum in August 1992, when restoration of the van commenced.
