PJ Rail Track Jacks

The Society has two Plasser Mammut track jacks, used to lift a railway track during maintenance operations.

PJ 017 and PJ 020 were acquired in 2001 to assist with track construction and maintenance within the Canberra Railway Museum Yard and on the Michelago Tourist Railway.

A typical use occurs during sleeper-replacement operations, when the track is lifted to facilitate the removal of an old sleeper and the insertion of a new.
